Cannes under siege

The Cannes festival is moment of bliss for the European movie industry. It’s when the highest regarded movie makers of the moment show reveal their latest creations to the audience and on the steps of the Palace of Festivals starlets unveil their cleavage while thousands of fans try to catch a glimpse of Monica Bellucci. Rivers of people try their luck in getting in at one of the glamorous parties taking place right under their eyes on the terraces on the Boulevard de La Croisette. Everyone carries mobile phone, a digital camera or a camcorder. Crowds of people crushed under their own self-esteem flow in a hurry to the Palace, climbing the red steps as if they’re going to pay a visit to God. Some are ticket payers some are just one night freeloaders who somehow managed to get an invitation, which they proudly display as visibly as possible.
