Athens
Ancient history and modern life. Rest and buzz. Beautiful scenery and breathtaking views. Tourist clichés and fresh points of view. Eye-catchers where a mix of graffiti, old monuments, houses dilapidated, restaurants and cafe terraces. Athens retains the millennia charm.
These pictures are an impression of three days strolling through the city of Athens, mainly concentrated around Plaka, Monastiraki, Anafiotika and the Acropolis. I loved the mixture of the new and old—the city’s history doesn’t date back just several hundred years but over 2,400 years ago.
Greeks are a very proud people of the utmost integrity and kindness. Their national pride is evident throughout the city with flags and banners everywhere. Despite the present rough economic times people showed a positive attitude, not hiding the fact that many of them must suffer severely having lost their jobs or even their homes.
