London
London is always surprising. The grand city is beautiful, but not overly anxious to show off. The architecture is classic, subtle, and intricately woven into the fabric of the skyline. The huge things are much more impressive in reality than in any pictures or any imagination – The Clock, the Bridge, the Abbey, the Palace.
London is a place full of energy. You will never feel like a stranger in London because here is a melting pot of Europe. There is a quiet hustle of the people, an energy that is felt throughout the city. People are very polite, they say “sorry” when they come across you in the city whirlwind, but they don’t look at you, it’s more of a reflex: “sorry” – and in the next second it’s already behind you, going on their way. They value time by living their own lives and not the lives of others.
London is a completely different city at night; different sounds, different sights, different people. When the sun goes down, London dramatically transforms into stomping grounds for a dark and brooding cast of characters.
There’s always something new, something you haven’t seen before, something that changes your way of thinking. Everything is here; history, culture, entertainment, food, and people from nearly every culture, and so your imagination is free to flow unjudged.
In London I saw history and life. New and old. Orders and rules. Conservatism and openness. Greatness and simplicity. Formalism and politeness. Courage and normalcy. Individuality and friendship. Respect and relaxation.
A piece of me stayed in London. And a particle of London will always be in my memory. Just like in a great love.
