About windows and walls
A window is an opening in the wall of a building for the admission of light and air. A wall is an upright structure of masonry, wood, plaster, or other building material serving to enclose, divide, protect or define an area. For me, as a photographer fascinated by everything that is forgotten, abandoned or discarded, windows and walls are a symbol of the permanent idea of nonpermanent.
Inside these empty houses, among the weathered walls, behind old dusted doors, in the rusted signs or behind broken windows I feel the greatness of all things which mankind created and left behind. Within their hidden spirit, within the life of those deserted spaces, I found prosperity and poorness, hope and despair, joy and sadness. And all those forgotten places and objects left behind challenge me and continue to be for me an endless source of discovery.
