Bangkok, year 2555
“City of Angels, Great City of the Immortals, Magnificent City of the Nine Stones, King’s Throne, City of Royal Palaces, Home of the Incarnate Gods, Built by Vivvakarman at the Behest of Indra” This is the full name of Bangkok, probably the longest name ever given to a human settlement.

Bangkok is a very photogenic city. Bangkok is a fast moving city, moving fast, very fast… (According to the Buddhist calendar we are in the year 2555)

Watching everyday life interfering with a futuristic and gigantic setting, my photographic eye plays on the confrontation of worlds and signs and explores the graphic codes of the city. Silhouettes stand out in ghostly shadows playing against graphic backgrounds, and real people merge with printed images. Bangkok is the city where people always smile. Some of them have nothing, but they keep on smiling and in spite of their huge poverty, they are really rich because they haven’t lost the will to smile.
